With talks of Thatal joining ATK gaining momentum, the U-17 coach came out last week to clear the air about the speculations of him having a fall out with the teen sensation which was assumed to be the reason for Komal not making the cut into the Arrows squad.
Ahead of Arrows’ second I-League game against Minerva Punjab FC, Matos confirmed, “Komal was like Aniket (Jadhav) – an option for the U-19. Aniket came out strong. Komal had another reaction. He wants to play in another project. The door is open for all the players from the U-17 World Cup and it’s a question of personal decision. He says that he wants to go in an ISL team and I respect that. Komal is not here because he doesn’t want to be here and not because the coach doesn’t want him to be here. It’s completely different.”
Now according to reports Komal Thatal is all set to join Indian Super League (ISL) side ATK, after refusing to join Indian Arrows team participating in the I-League. The Sikkimese-born player flew to Kolkata a couple of days back with his signing expected to be announced anytime soon. ATK can certainly make use of a talent like Komal after a disappointing start to their campaign this season which has seen them slip to the bottom of the league table.
In the absence of Rane, Komal can be a good addition to the side provided he gets decent game time to make use of the exposure that the ISL offers. Do you think the lad should make a move to ATK?
