The most successful team in the ISL history have already made a mark in with their signings for the next season. Now they have managed to rope in former Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham as their head coach for the upcoming Indian Super League season.
The 51-year-old will replace Spanish manager Jose Molina who guided ATK to glory last season. Sheringham is a very prominent name in football, especially to those familiar with the Premier League, having been a part of the famous Manchester United squad which won the treble in 1999. Sheringham scored the equaliser in the dramatic Champions League final against Bayern Munich, which United won 2-1.
Sheringham has played for the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and West Ham United, but doesn’t really have a lot of experience as a coach. Ashley Westwood, who was was appointed as the technical director Atletico de Kolkata on Friday is a Manchester United academy graduate as well and should gel well with the new English coach. The former Bengaluru FC coach, Westwood’s knowledge about Indian football and expertise will be an added bonus for the ISL champions.
